Bottom Electrode Push Up Device-Provide analysis and design drawings of a new proprietary design to change-out the bottom electrode from within the electric arc furnace shell.  Safety issues were identified by the customer who was determined to eliminate the potential hazards associated with this ongoing repetitive task the team members are required to undertake.

Monster Die-A design-build project where ODC performed a combination of finite element analysis and hand calculations providing fatigue analysis and an optimized design of the monster die which is part of the 31,000 tonne multi-directional horizontal press system.  The monster die imparts end features on the ends of the monolithic medium-speed engine and industrial crankshafts.

Furnace Cooling System Piping-Provide plant facility planning, engineering and design of a water cooling system to improve the expected life of a current buried piping system.  ODC with ShawCo planned the routing of the new system at ground level in a concrete trough from the pump house to the furnace.

Crucible Transfer Car-Partnering with an installation contractor, ODC provided the design drawings, analysis and manufacturing of the new transfer car with increased capacity.

Crankshaft Counterbalance System-Provided the engineering and design drawings of a pneumatic counterbalance system to improve the quality of grinding operations of industrial crank shafts.  The system spanned the grinder and supported the crankshaft countering the effects of gravity that created eccentricities during the grinding operation

Walking Beam Capacity Increase-Working with a manufacturer of machinery, ODC provided the analysis and design drawings for four walking beam designs increasing the capacity while utilizing the same envelope available.  The beams, at the current capacity would regularly require weld repair in the high stress areas.  The new design reduced the stress in the critical area and distributed the stresses in the beam at the same time increasing the capacity.  The beams are manufactured, installed and operating as expected.

Bar Turning Equipment-A design-build project for ODC where the customer required to turn a 50 ton bar eccentrically loaded for positioning the piece for subsequent operations.  A turnkey project for ODC supplying the machine, wireless remote control of the machine along with the construction package for the electrics and pneumatics.

Lifting Devices-Provide analysis and drawings for various reeved-in and below the hook lifting devices for the primary metals industries.  The capacities have ranged from a few hundred pounds to several hundred tons.  The applications have ranged from basic hook-on beams to highly specialized devices with the ability to rotate loads 360 deg.
